Irritability testing:

THYMOX TECHNOLOGY diluted solution is non-irritating when tested in the laboratory with EpiSkin technology.  EpiSkin is an alternative to animal testing when verifying the corrosive aspect of a disinfectant.  For this method, we use human skin cells that we “grow” in order to obtain a synthetic skin and alive. Then we apply the disinfectant on the synthetic skin and we verify the effects.  Episkin reduces the use of animals in the evaluation of disinfectants, and in some cases, to obtain results closer to reality. Indeed, the commonly used animal skin may react differently to certain products than does human skin.

Botanical origin

At Laboratoire M2, we are more and more convinced that companies need to move towards sustainable development. That’s why we chose to formulate our disinfectants with ingredients of botanical origin.

Active ingredients

The active ingredients (whose role is to neutralize the microorganisms) contained in the formulations of Laboratoire M2 come from essential oils of plants. Extracts of these plants have long been used by humans, for among other things, as food preservatives.

Surfactants

The surfactants that we incorporate in our disinfectants are also of botanical origin, and are usually derived from vegetable oils. These ingredients play key roles in the formulations: they stabilize the solution while giving it cleaning properties. The cleaning aspect of a green disinfectant is significant because it allows to mechanically remove microorganisms from surfaces, thus increasing its efficiency.

Pathogenic fungi

Products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY are recognized as a fungicide, which means that they are an antimicrobial agent that kills fungi, including their spores. To receive the claim of fungicide for a disinfectant product, we need to demonstrate the product’s efficacy against Trichophyton mentagrophytes, which acts as the indicator for the pathogenic fungus most difficult to destroy. We passed all the tests performed on Trichophyton. Products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY even obtained fungal activity at a concentration well below 1%, which demonstrates its high fungal activity.

Products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY should be effective against Aspergillus spp.

Specific bacteria not listed on the label

Products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY are recognized as a bactericide, which means that they an antimicrobial agent that can kill bacteria, but not their spores. To receive the claim of bactericide for a disinfectant product, we need to demonstrate the product’s efficacy against Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella choleraesuis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa which act as indicators for the pathogenic bacteria most difficult to destroy. We passed all the tests that were performed on these three and other selected bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes. This proves that products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY are effective on all types of bacteria.

Properties in the presence of organic matter

  • Products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY contains a powerful plant-based detergent (degreaser);
  • Its active ingredient, thymol, is deemed stable in the presence of organic matter;
  • Products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY has a detergent action on biofilms. It raises the biofilm and allows the active ingredient thymol to kill germs.

Resistance to bacteria

As for thymol, the active ingredient in products based on THYMOX TECHNOLOGY, the action acts primarily at the cell membrane and not directly on the chromosomes carrying the genes, which does not promote genetic resistance.
